So, What is the 4WD Industry Association all about?

Western Australia is a vast and beautiful state with great diversities in landscape. How better to experience such diversity than heading off the beaten track in a 4WD set up for this purpose as well as being safely driveable on city roads?

The 4WD Industry Association was established to create a pool of industry knowledge that could be called on to advise government, address the requirements of the industry and disseminate information and resources to educate and enlighten the wider community.

This MTA WA division represents 4WD accessory manufacturers, accessory retailers and fitters, importers, service providers as well as tour operators.

The majority of four wheel drivers have an intense interest in the environment and in maintaining its integrity. Their passion lies in travelling through environments that are relatively untouched and leaving them intact so that future generations can enjoy a similar experience.

The 4WD Division has been active in several areas aimed at helping everyone make this hobby a safe and sustainable pursuit and ensuring continued accessibility of tracks. With this aim, committee members recently attended a government advisory group meeting aimed at creating cooperation and consultation between industry and government.

The division also supports local charities. A great example was the ANZAC long weekend 2010 "Be a Man" expedition, which has raised more than $2000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation (see pics below). The tranquility of the ANZAC dawn at Scamp Rock by the banks of Lake Johnston, surrounded by the peace and silence of the Australian bush, was something Im sure many a digger would have yearned for in the thick of battle.

Travelling through the Outback is a truly Australian adventure and the MTA WA 4WD Industry Association continues to work hard at promoting safe driving practices and safe but reasonable vehicle modifications to ensure that this pleasure is not overly regulated and can be enjoyed by future generations.

4WDIA members can always log in to the members page, via the silver box at the top of the page, to obtain more details of 4WDIA meetings, activities and events.
