Training and Apprenticeships for Engine Reconditioning
Over more than 15 months, the Engine Reconditioners Association in WA has been hands on in developing a engine reconditioning training package with Swan Tafe, now Polytechnic West.
Following changes made to the way the training would be delivered and due to decreasing numbers of Engine Reconditioning apprentices, a considerable amount of time has been given by both Polytechnic West and the Engine Reconditioners Association of WA into reviewing the old training format and making amendments to bring the final product up to industry standards whilst ensuring it meshed well with existing training offered by Polytechnic West.
The new package now includes specific reconditioning units and units from other packages such as Automotive, Fitting & Machining classes and provides flexibility for the student and employer. Involvement from industry will be important in order to deliver specialised Reconditioning units, with assessments to be carried out by Polytechnic West.
Auto Specs Software
The ERA also produces the industry software "Auto Specs", which provides Engine reconditioners across Australia with access to regularly updated engine specs and measurements. If you have a reconditioning business and would like to trial the software, contact the MTA WA to obtain a 30 day trial.
GreenStamp
ERA WA members also have discounted access to the MTA GreenStamp environmental accreditation program, which has a specific management plan for Engine Reconditioners. Click here for more information.
