The MTA's in-house Industrial Relations Department is available to assist and protect members' interests, by providing an detailed advisory service.

This service predominantly involves issues such as:

  • Award, Wage Schedule & Allowances info
  • Information on the new Fair Work Act
  • MTA-WA Fact Sheets
  • Members alerts on Industrial Relations
  • Links to ATO PAYG tax tables
  • Award interpretation.
  • Advice on wages, allowances, conditions of employment, and the like.v
  • Hiring and termination - procedures and advice.
  • Employee Collective Agreements � drafting & lodgement.
  • Letters of offer/contracts of employment � drafting.
  • HR policies and procedures � drafting.
  • Worker's compensation

We also provide full support and representation with claims such as unfair dismissal, contractual benefit or underpayment claims, which may arise before the Australian Industrial Relations Commission, Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, Industrial Magistrate�s Court or Federal Magistrate�s Court.

Such assistance includes:

  • Preparation and submission of all relevant documentation;
  • Representation at Conciliation Conferences and/or Hearings, including presentation of arguments;
  • Referral of matters to legal representation, where necessary;
  • A heavily subsidised hourly fee will be charged for any advisory or representation work carried out directly for member businessesbeyond 1 hour in duration, with a separate scale of fees for drafting and lodgement of Employee Collective Agreements
