What Does The Motor Trade Association Do?

The automotive industry drives the Australian Economy. With a State the size of Western Australia, over 2 million square kilometres, we simply could not operate without our vehicles. Ownership and operation of vehicles accounts for approximately 16% of household income and regionally the industry is a significant employer and provider of much needed apprenticeships and trainees.

In Australia, the motor trade has over 97,000 businesses, a turnover in excess of $160 billion per annum and employs more than 308,000 Australians. Economically it is the second largest contributor to the economy next to the resources sector. In Western Australia there are over 9,500 businesses employing over 35,000 people.

The Motor Trade Association of WA is the peak representative body for this vital industry and works to ensure that the interests of the industry are protected and that the high standards of the industry are maintained.

So How Does The Motor Trade Association Help Its Members?

The Motor Trade Association of Western Australia is a dynamic and innovative organisation whose purpose is to serve our members in a number of areas.

Firstly, the MTA represents the continuingly expanding automotive sector through its 20 Divisions which represent the full breadth of the industry. These Divisions, which are made up of duly elected members from the relevant industry sector, regularly meet to discuss industry issues and set the policy agenda for the Association. This information is then used by the Association in its representations to government across the three tiers, Federal, State and Local.
