Truckies get $374,000 back-pay

Ten truck drivers who worked for an Adelaide transport company have been back-paid a total of $374,000 following successful legal action by the Fair Work Ombudsman.

Senator Nick Xenophon says the Federal Government needs to urgently act on recommendations made by a Senate Inquiry in December 2015 to address critical skills shortages currently crippling large parts of the automotive sector.

Governments normally have three months to respond to Senate Inquiry recommendations, but have failed to do so here.

Chain of Responsibility information session

Heavy Vehicle Services (HVS) and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) invite you to attend an industry information session on Chain of Responsibility (CoR) on 23 August 2017.

This Industry Information Session will provide attendees with an understanding of their responsibilities under CoR (within WA) and an overview of upcoming changes to CoR under National Heavy Vehicle Law (NHVL) and what it means for west-east freight tasks.

The CoR Information Session will be held on 23 August, between 10 am – 12 Midday at the Main Roads Heavy Vehicle Services Redcliffe office.

Vehicle Standards Update - Heavy Vehicles

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has published a revised version of Vehicle Standards Bulletin (VSB) 6: National Code of Practice for Heavy Vehicle Modifications.

The revised version has been determined as Version 3. The NHVR will now commence work to implement the revised standard nationally from 1 September 2017.
