AUR20516 Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology (Pre Apprenticeship in Schools)
This program is offered to students who are still at school in years 11 and 12. It provides students with the principles underpinning the operations of vehicle systems and subsystems. They learn to carry out servicing operations, inspect and service engines, braking, cooling and steering and suspension systems. All students will develop the knowledge and skills needed to service, maintain and repair these systems along with developing effective communication, teamwork skills, safe working practices and environmental awareness when developing solutions to planning and managing automotive vehicle systems.
This course encourages senior secondary students to engage in a vocational context and fosters a positive transition from school to work, providing a structure which students can prepare for further education, training and employment.
The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) developed course uses the AUR12 Automotive Industry Retail, Service and Repair Training package as a framework for the achievement of this qualification.
To achieve the Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology, students must successfully complete twenty (20) units of competency made up of thirteen (13) core units and seven (7) elective units, delivered over two years and participate in work experience throughout the program.
