Learners develop the principles underpinning the operation of vehicle electric systems and subsystems. They learn to use electrical measuring equipment; develop skills in interpreting wiring diagrams; testing electrical circuits to confirm correct operation, including lighting and ancillary systems, charging and starting systems; basic troubleshooting and soldering techniques. Learners develop safe working practices and environmental awareness as they develop solutions for planning and managing automotive vehicle electrical systems.

 

Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, AUR31120 Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, and AUR30320 Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology, along with many other certificates qualifications within the Automotive Retail, Service and Repair Training Package.

The Trainer Assessor will schedule visits at least monthly to conduct training and carry out assessment inorder to confirm development of competency.

This program will be delivered through a range of teaching and learning strategies in the learner’s workplace. These include:

  • Practical workshop-based tasks (these involve demonstration and practice activities in monitored work environments).
  • Trainer-led knowledge development through supportive text, PowerPoints, Autodata video and one-on-one conversation.
  • Self-motivated study to support knowledge and practical skills development.
  • Simulated workplace in one of our Training Centres if the workplace is unable to support a particular skill. The Trainer Assessor will organise for the learner to attend one of our Training Centres for simulated skill development and assessment. The Training Centre has equipment that reflects automotive industry workshop standards.
