Host an Apprentice

We take the hassle out of taking on an Apprentice

MTA WA Training’s Group Training Organisation is a registered automotive apprentice employment arm specialising in recruiting, mentoring and supporting apprentices in the automotive industry.

We actively recruit and employ apprentices to be placed with automotive businesses (host employers) and ensure all aspects of an apprentices journey is managed. NO more payroll, organising training, dealing with work place injury. Apprentice employment does it all. This allows the host employer to focus on providing the best practical work placement experience possible.

Why host an Apprentice?

  • Bring new skills into your business to increase your competitiveness
  • Prevent future skills shortages and safeguard your business
  • Be paid government funding, incentives, and rebates when eligible
  • Spend less time hands-on and more time focusing on scaling your business
  • Invest in the future of automotive talent whilst expanding your business

Why choose us when hosting an apprentice?

We undertake the employer responsibilities when hiring an apprentice and take care of the paperwork, including managing payroll, leave entitlements, superannuation, TAFE etc.

The employer only pays an hourly rate for when the apprentice/trainee is in the workplace. You do not pay for any time at ‘off-the-job’ training, leave or superannuation payment.

We cover the following:

  • 4 weeks annual leave
  • 17.5% annual loading
  • Public holidays in accordance with award entitlements
  • Sick and bereavement leave in accordance with award entitlements
  • Attendance at trade school
  • School fees
  • Superannuation in accordance with Superannuation Guarantee Act
  • Tool kits
  • Administration of Work Cover premiums (where applicable)
  • Training Contracts and Government Liaison
  • Annual safety audits at host employer’s premises

What trades does MTA WA Training cover?

  • Light and Heavy Vehicle Technicians
  • Panel Beaters
  • Spray Painters
  • Vehicle Body Builders
  • Heavy Duty Plant Mechanics
  • Auto Electricians
  • Outdoor Power & Equipment
  • Plus all other automotive apprenticeships!

What is involved for the host employer?

The key expectation from the host employer is that they provide good quality work experience to the apprentice/trainee that is relevant to the apprenticeship/traineeship. Host employers must ensure that the apprentice/trainee attends all off-the-job training. Host employers will also be responsible for signing the Apprentice’s time sheets for hours worked and paying the fortnightly MTA WA Training invoice. They must allow the Apprentice Field Officers access to the apprentice/trainee to discuss progress and notify MTA WA Training immediately of any incident.
