The expected duration to complete all learning and assessment requirements is 12 months.

The AUR21920 Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology course is designed for learners who are currently working in the Tyre Fitting Industry who have access to the appropriate tools and equipment to be assessed “On the Job”. All training and assessment are conducted in the workplace.

Within the course, learners will be provided with comprehensive training and/or assessment that empowers them to undertake a range of necessary tyre-related workplace tasks in a competent manner, in conjunction with other necessary skills.

Core skills assessed during the process will include safe work practices, light vehicle tyre removal, inspection, repairing, replacing and balancing. Other key skills include environmental practices, troubleshooting, workshop tooling and communication skills with fellow staff and customers. More specific skills (Wheel Align, Heavy Tyres) are available within the units of competency in the selected pathways.

Learners will be provided with the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in the tyre fitting industry. All successful learners will be issued a nationally accredited qualification recognised by all states in Australia. All learners issued with the qualification will be able to apply for a relevant WA Motor Vehicle Repairer’s Certificate.

MTA WA Training offers this qualification through specific options. To simplify the delivery process MTA WA Training breaks all training and assessment down into blocks of units. The initial two blocks of training are compulsory and common to all three options.

The remaining blocks can be chosen from the following specialist stream:

  • Option A) Wheel Aligning with Steering & Suspension inspections (Blocks 3 & 4), or
  • Option B) Heavy Vehicle Tyres (Blocks 4 & 5), or
  • Option C) Heavy Vehicle Tyres & Wheel Alignment (Blocks 3 & 5)

There are 3 Enrolment pathways to choose from to achieve your competency in the AUR21920 Certificate II in Automotive Tyre Servicing Technology.

 

1.      Traineeship (Funded / Non-Funded)

Funded

This qualification can be offered to new workers under a state government-funded traineeship arrangement. To be eligible for this subsidy, learners must be signed up as a Trainees within 3 months of commencing their full-time employment, or 12 months for casual and part time.

Non-Funded

For existing workers who have been employed for more than 3 months full time or 12 months casual or part time, they can still sign up as a Trainee, however it will not be funded. This will result in the course fees not being subsidised.

2.      Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Learners will be required to provide evidence of their competence for all units in all sections they have opted to complete. This includes submitting a workplace evidence portfolio, answering knowledge questions, and demonstrating the skills in front of an assessor while on-the-job.

 

3.      Train & Assess

For Learners who do not wish to complete a Traineeship, they have the option to be Trained & Assessed on the job. Learners may request RPL for individual units where evidence can be provided.

 

Additional Units (optional)

Learners who wish to upskill and complete units not covered in their chosen block may enrol in the additional block on a Fee for Service basis. The RPL option is available for units where sufficient evidence can be provided to demonstrate competency.
