Host Connect 2026: Thanking WA’s Automotive Host Employers
On 13 October, MTA WA welcomed host employers from across Western Australia to our Balcatta Training Centre for an exclusive Host Connect evening, bringing together industry professionals for an evening of networking, industry insights, and appreciation.
The event was designed as a thank you to the many businesses that partner with MTA WA’s Apprentice and Employment Services team to support and develop the next generation of automotive professionals.
Over dinner and refreshments, guests reconnected with industry colleagues, built relationships with fellow host employers, shared experiences and discussed the challenges and opportunities facing the automotive sector, helping to strengthen the connections that help drive the automotive sector forward.
MTA WA General Manager of Apprentice and Employment Services, Amanda Dawes, thanked host employers for their ongoing commitment to apprentices and highlighted the vital role they play in supporting workforce development across the industry.
Attendees also heard from MTA WA CEO Neil LeFebvre, who provided insights into the future of the automotive industry. His presentation explored the significant changes shaping the sector, including emerging technologies, evolving workforce requirements, and the importance of continued investment in skills and training.
General Manager Mel Greenhow gave a guided tour of MTA WA’s state-of-the-art training facilities. Mel spoke passionately about the high-quality training delivered by MTA WA and the organisation’s commitment to equipping apprentices and industry professionals with the skills needed for the future of automotive.
The evening concluded with the draw of a door prize hamper, generously supported by several valued partners. The prize included a Bunnings gift voucher, tooling supplied by SP Tools, and additional items provided by Volt, Care Super and MTA WA.
Events such as Host Connect reflect MTA WA’s commitment to supporting not only apprentices, but also the businesses that invest their time, resources and expertise into developing the industry’s future workforce. The positive engagement showed the value of bringing industry together to connect, collaborate and prepare for the opportunities ahead.
MTA WA extends its sincere thanks to all host employers who attended and for their continued partnership in building a skilled, capable and future-ready automotive workforce for Western Australia.
