MTA WA Drives Engagement at the Perth Tradie Expo 2026

Events & Networking

MTA WA was proud to be part of the 2026 Perth Tradie Expo, held at Ascot Racecourse from 13–15 June, connecting with thousands of tradespeople, apprentices and industry leaders from across Western Australia.

With approximately 13,500 attendees across the three days and peak periods exceeding 850 visitors per hour, the event once again demonstrated its position as one of WA’s leading gatherings for the trades sector and a notable uplift in the quality of engagement.

Showcasing Automotive Careers and Pathways

At Stand 42, the MTA WA team focused on promoting the breadth of opportunity within WA’s automotive industry, engaging visitors through conversations around:

  • Pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships
  • Training pathways and upskilling opportunities
  • Future-focused EV training courses
  • MTA WA membership benefits
  • Career opportunities, including trainer roles

Our presence reinforced MTA WA’s commitment to supporting both current and future automotive professionals, while strengthening brand visibility among a highly relevant audience of tradies, apprentices and business owners.

Igniting Curiosity with “Auto IQ – Ignition Mission”

A key highlight of our activation was the interactive “Ignition Mission: Auto IQ” competition, designed to spark curiosity and drive engagement.

Participants were challenged to identify 20 mystery car parts, submitting their answers via QR code to enter the draw. The competition proved highly effective in:

  • Generating strong foot traffic to the stand
  • Capturing valuable leads for follow-up
  • Creating meaningful conversations with participants

Visitors also received MTA WA branded merchandise upon entry, helping extend brand visibility beyond the event.

Strong Engagement and Quality Leads

The Expo provided an excellent opportunity to connect with:

  • Prospective apprentices exploring career pathways
  • Existing tradespeople looking to upskill or pivot
  • Employers and workshop owners interested in hosting apprentices
  • Industry professionals seeking training or career progression

Engagement at the stand was demonstrated with strong participation in the Auto IQ competition and consistent interest in training, membership and career support services.

A Successful Event for the Industry

Media coverage, including a Channel 7 News feature on Friday evening, further amplified the event’s reach and showcased the strength of WA’s trades sector.

Looking Ahead: Driving the Future of Automotive

The Perth Tradie Expo continues to evolve, and we’re excited about what’s ahead in 2026. With a stronger focus on motoring and the rise of commercial EV vehicles, the event presents a valuable platform for MTA WA to further highlight the future of automotive training and technology.

We look forward to working more closely with the Expo team on:

  • Promoting the automotive sector in pre-event campaigns
  • Expanding awareness of EV and emerging technologies
  • Enhancing media opportunities, including potential future TV coverage
